How the calculation works
Salary − estimated federal income tax − employee Social Security − Medicare − entered state/local tax
Use the result as a planning aid. Check the source records and the assumptions before making financial decisions.
This annual estimate assumes a single filer under 65 who is not blind or a dependent, salary-only income and the $16,100 standard deduction. It excludes credits, pretax benefits and special deductions. State/local tax is entered by you, not calculated. Employer FICA is shown separately; unemployment taxes are excluded.
Rates verified for tax year 2026: IRS Publication 505 and IRS Social Security and Medicare rates. For paycheck withholding, use the IRS Tax Withholding Estimator.
An annual US salary estimate
The tool estimates salary after income taxes and employee payroll taxes. Use the stated tax year and review the assumptions before interpreting the result.
Keep withholding separate
An annual tax estimate is not a paycheck withholding instruction. Actual payroll depends on tax year, filing details, pay frequency, benefit treatment and federal, state and local requirements.
