How the calculation works

Closing cash = opening cash + receipts − payments. Each month’s receipts grow by your nominal annual rate ÷ 12.

Use the result as a planning aid. Check the source records and the assumptions before making financial decisions.

Use cash movements

Include cash receipts and payments for the same period. This simplified projection combines those flows into monthly totals; it does not present a classified cash flow statement.

Reconcile the ending balance

Add net cash movement to opening cash to estimate closing cash. Profit is not the same as cash movement; noncash entries and unpaid invoices need different treatment.
